Although that style of training is also amazing & helps improves our cardiovascular health whilst being able to burn a lot of calories in a short period of time it primarily uses carbohydrates for fuel due to short, intense bursts of activity followed by rest. It improves the ability to perform high-intensity efforts repeatedly. HOWEVER, steady state zone 2 cardio helps burn fat efficiently during the workout and helps build a strong aerobic base, which improves metabolism over time.
