Hi! I’m Tasneem. British born, married to a South African, and mum to three beautiful souls: Rayhaan, Aaliyah and Ammaar. We also share our home with two cats and a very curious rabbit, each adding their own kind of magic. After marriage I moved to South Africa, far from everything and everyone I’d ever known. It wasn’t easy, but love, laughter and the life we built made this place home. A big part of that was my incredible support system. My mother in law is more like a best friend. My sister in laws are like my own, those I can laugh with, lean on and truly call mine. And my father in law, always there with advice, support or a reassuring smile. When I started this page, it was simply to share food made with love for my family. What many don’t know is that cooking was still new to me then. I was learning and growing one meal at a time, right alongside you. What began as a recipe space slowly became something deeper. Cooking turned into my love language, a way to nurture, comfort and connect. I named this space Behind Kitchen Doors because it was never just about the food. It was about everything happening around it, the laughter, the mess, the chaos and the quiet moments that made it all meaningful. Over time I began sharing more. The tables I set, the outfits I wear and the small everyday moments that make up our lives. And somehow, you welcomed it all with so much warmth. At the centre of it all is my husband Aadil. The one who is my calm, my comfort and my biggest blessing. He believed in me long before I ever believed in myself and has quietly stood by my side with unwavering love and support. Always encouraging, always supporting me in everything I do. If you’re new here, welcome. There’s always room at our table. And if you’ve been here from the beginning, thank you for growing with me and for making this journey so special. I’m so excited for what’s still to come, and so grateful to have you with me as a new chapter begins.
