My first snow day in Paris 🥹 I went straight to Montmartre this morning to walk around and I’m so glad I did! There were hardly any other people outside and usually this area gets super touristy. Montmartre is also up on a hill so the snow was sticking a bit better. Marshmallow mission in Paris 🦃🫡 I’m celebrating Thanksgiving with some friends tomorrow and as one of the two Americans invited, I volunteered for the legendary, mashed sweet potatoes with marshmallows dish (that most foreigners have never heard of it seems) It turns out marshmallows are very difficult to find though.. I ended up finding a bag of big marshmallows in the U.S. section of La Grand Épicerie de Paris. A bag is over 6 euros but it’s worth it 🥲🍠 Happy Thanksgiving! Two years ago, I spent 5 weeks in Japan during the wintertime - exploring Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, Hakone, Mt. Fuji, and Nagano It was the trip of a lifetime and one of the highlights for me was visiting these snow monkeys that use the local hot springs. Supposedly, they learned how to do this by watching and mimicking the visitors that came to this area. Now the monkeys make the daily commute down from the surrounding hillsides to soak and stay warm 🐒 This area is called Snow Monkey Park (Jigokudani Yaen Koen) and you can take a shuttle here from Nagano. Nagano is a super cute town as well that’s worth spending a couple of nights in to explore Accommodation wise, I recommend a small hostel called 1166backpackers.
