We couldn't understand why the elders couldn't see it, why they ignored the snarling grins. They just marched forward, confident that their flock leaders were guiding them to greener pastures. That they knew the way out of the frost bitten plains. Everytime we looked up and cried for them to see what we saw, they would look into the sunken eyes of a fellow sheep and tell us that we are just too young to understand. They're fleece is thick, they walk like us, there is no maw of daggers, they are just like you and I. Other lambs cry out, begging for their mothers and fathers to look beneath the fleece coat, to understand that these members of the flock do not wish to bring them to salvation. They are not leading us to our  success or survival. They are leading us directly into the jaws, knowing that your belief in them will fill their bellies. We vowed that we would never become so blind, that we would kneel down to look up. That we would question the path our flock members paved. As time stole our curious minds, and our judgment hardened at our joints.
