For nearly 5 years now ive watched my hair reach towards the sun and it’s truly beautiful to see where we are now compared to where we started in 2020. Through those years my hair has experienced everything life has thrown at me from a bird’s eye view, good and bad. The times when I loved myself was directly reflected in the love that I put into my hair and in return my hair showed love with growth and exceptional beauty. On the other hand, at times when it was hard to love myself and find purpose (which was also reflected in my haircare) even when my hair would go weeks without washing, conditioning, moisturizing etc. my hair still tried its best to shine and show me its love never wavered. Through all the neglect, it continued to show the love I couldn’t find for myself to those around me and those watching me. With the ends splitting and forming into tiny balls, some hairs falling limp, losing their intricate curl patterns, and scalp screaming for shampoo the roots remained strong and continued to grow. Though my hair has taught me much about unconditional love, I’ve also learned about weathering my own storms. There isn’t much we can do about the things we can’t do much about and that’s normal.
